Details:
This morning we had a truly wonderful conjunction between the Moon (with a display of Earthshine), Venus, the Alpha star of Virgo Constellation Spica and the little comet C/2013 US10 Catalina! The weather forecast was not clear, since we had in the previous days fog and low level cloud overcast skies but I tried the same, and I was rewarded for that. Today the sky was completely perfect, from 4 am since I woke up till sunrise! The view was simply awesome, especially with a pair of binoculars that allowed to span around all the objects in the field. It was a little bit difficutl to locate the comet Catalina, but after you got your way with the observed stars, it emerged without problems. In the picture the comet is best seen in the right box, under the star HIP 69881. This time I took 100 shots at 3.2" f/5.6 ISO 800 with 20 darks, and I integrated them together to have a little more detail in the final picture, shot about 45 minutes later, to give the bluish tone to the sky. The little comets is surely visibile, even from the single shot picture, and is more clear in the zoomed square on the right. In the next days it will continue to gain elevation up from the horizon, and it will be more easy to observe. Canon EOS 700D - 18-55mm IS STM - Lightroom CC - DSS - Photoshop CC
