Details:
I was not expecting the auroras to be as active as they were on the night of Nov 6th and the early morning of the 7th. Everything I saw was indicating that the evening of Nov 7th were going to be the best chances. I awoke around 00:30 on the morning of Nov,7th and happened to check my email and saw an alert so after a little more investigating I determined i should get out of town and take a look. I had a spot in mind to go to which was about a 10 minute drive and could see the auroras as I was hurrying to get to my spot. In this picture I was in the process of trying to get to another area when the sky lit up and I thought I better plant my tripod and get a shot off. I knew I was in and among some trees and was trying to get out of them but took the shot anyway. After looking at the photo I thought it was unique and liked it. I was using a Nikon D7000 with an 11-16mm f2.8 Tokina lens set at 14mm, 800 ISO 25s.
