So this is what I saw in the morning while waiting for a train. I've seen some halos but i've never seen something like this. The "halo" appeared opposite to the rising sun and looked like a rainbow but without colours. I thought halos appear directly around the sun. Also the sun was just about to rise. It was below the horizon while I waited for my train. So what is this? Halo or an outwashed rainbow? (it was slightly cloudy but there was no sign of rain anywhere around my location). What atmospherical effects created this phenomenon?

Intermediate between a cloudbow

and a rainbow. As water drops get smaller the rainbow broadens and the colours get more dilute.
