Details:
Nice amount of moonlight to start off last night's portion of the Orionid meteor shower. Only saw about a dozen bright ones but they were spectacular as always. Shot at Makoshika State Park, which derives its name from the Lakota phrase for bad land.

Nikon D750, 24mm lens, 20 sec f2.8 at 3,200 ISO.

Great shot and congrats on making it to the Spaceweather front page for 22 Oct. Could APOD be next?

Yes, sweiller, I was lucky indeed for the location of this meteor. I was running this camera for a timelapse and a second camera nearby aimed for meteors. But this frame was much better than the meteors I caught in the second camera.
