Details:
Witnessed the grand slam a few nights ago on the eastern Montana plains. While making a Milky Way timelapse, a nice meteor joined us after the northern lights woke up and started dancing. Pleiades visible top right, Andromeda at top center.
The large boulder is a glacial erratic that was left behind on the plains thousands of years ago by retreating glaciers. Its polished surface still shows dozens of Native American petroglyphs, though lichens are growing over several.
Nikon D750, 8mm fisheye lens, 30 sec @ ISO 5,000. Dim flashlight placed off-camera right to highlight the boulder.
