Details:
It was a perfect night with not a cloud in sight and mild temperatures. I viewed and photographed the Sept 27 total lunar eclipse from Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park in Alberta, Canada on the Milk River and just north of the Montana border. The eclipsed Moon appears over the sandstone formations along the Milk River, home to ancient petroglyphs, a wonderful site to watch a wonderful eclipse. For us the Moon rise with the partial eclipse in progress, itself a fine sight. The sky darkened as both twilight ended and the Moon entered totality, creating a dark moonless sky for the Milky Way to appear. Then the night turned bright again as the Moon emerged from the umbra.
