Details:
The magnetic field of sunspot NOAA AR12415 is strongly sheared with mixed polarities shoved into close, and explosive, proximity. Breaking and re-connection of magnetic field lines in the sunspot's core are actively producing a Solar Flare.
Meanwhile, a large "Hedgerow" type Prominence dances on the Sun's Eastern Limb in this 3 piece mosaic.
This image was shot with a DAYSTAR FILTERS QUARK Chromosphere, an Electronic Hydrogen Alpha Eyepiece that can be attached to almost any refracting telescope and tuned to a particular wavelength to capture these remarkable images of the sun. Three separate videos of 2,000 frames were captured and stacked into three separate image files, which were then stitched together to form this panoramic view of the SOLARACTIVITY of the Sun.
