Perseid Meteors, Polaris & Star Trails!!! Earth's Natural Rotation in 5 hours. Well last night was probably the Best Perseid Display I've seen in years.. I captured 161 Perseid Meteors last night on my Meteor Video camera network in Dayton, and another 2 dozen including 6 fireballs on my DSLR cameras out at my Observatories at JBSPO. Ron Whitehead & enjoyed the clear night! I setup 3 of my cameras and one of Ron's camera....It was a decent display..but dew was heavy, had my dew zappers on full blast!!!. I will Post the other videos and pics next week when I return, I'm getting ready for a show in Lexington, KY this weekend. In the Meantime, here is a nice 5 hour time-lapse from 11:30pm until 4:30am this morning.. My Observatory on the left & my cameras on the right looking straight up, left of center the Vortex of the North Celestial pole...with at least 9 Perseid meteors in the image (look near the Horizons for the fainter ones) , and an Iridium Flare, and a couple of Aircraft trails. Modified Canon Rebel Xxsi DSLR & 8mm fish-eye Lens, ISO 1600, F3.5, 5 hour exposure Best Regards, John Chumack www.galacticimages.com
