AR2396 has certainly garnered a lot of interest amongst solar imagers and, rightly so. In a previous post, Randy had suggested that I use larger captures to reduce noise - these are 750 frame AVI's which use almost a gig of HD space. In Registax 6, they were limited to 20% and further decreased whilst scrolling through the Stackgraph. Minimal enhancements were used in photo-editing. I think he is right in that there is some improvement in image quality but, today's viewing conditions were better than usual. The bottom line is that there are so many variables resulting in numerous permutations and combinations, let alone artistic license - will continue to use the larger files though and, delete the poor ones. Also, it seems that false color is back in vogue. TS 115 mm APO triplet; Baader wedge; ASI120MM; 3X Barlow; FireCapture 2.3; Registax 6; PSP7. East/West not reversed.
