Captured in the photos is the Blue Moon as it rose over the Atlantic Ocean as seen from Saquarema, a small city roughly 100 km east of downtown Rio de Janeiro (22.9o Southern Latitude.). The shots were taken at 20:56-58 UT by using a Canon PowerShot SX60 HS camera. The second photo shows the strong red color of the pale attenuated image of the Moon as it was still partially below the eastern horizon. The first and third photo illustrate the transition from red to yellow coloration. Only a minute later, a yellow color was prevailing across the significantly flattened lunar disc (last photo).
