Details:
Watched and photographed a huge Northern Lights show from a mountain top 4,000 feet above the valley. Tonight the Northern Lights came out outta the blue as they often do. Knowing I only had hours to find a spot and get pictures before morning, I quickly but safely dashed out of my house to look for a location. I tried getting around the clouds but they were everywhere in NorthWest Montana. So instead of trying to get around them, I went above them! This was one of the most colorful and visible to the eye displays I have seen in the last year. And I have seen a lot in the last year! Brilliant colors! A large chunk of NW Montana can be seen below. For perspective, that small cluster of lights wayyy in the middle there are the cities of Kalispell, Whitefish, Evergreen, and Columbia Falls. Kila and I think even Marion is visible here along with Bigfork, Glacier Park, and I don't know what else lol. Total viewing area is approximately 100 miles across. Despite a short night, one of the most beautiful nights of my life.

I went back to my picture and noticed that you need to click on and open up the picture for best quality. The thumbnail is a bit grainy. The quality is much better then it appears! lol
