Details:
Yesterday, July 1st, 2015, I was at my 4th floor apartment window hoping the clouds would clear so I could get a photo of Jupiter+Venus. No such luck. However, the cloud cover did provide enough filter for me to capture some photos of the sun as it set giving it that large red ball appearance. In a series of 50 photographs, there is a dark spot that appears consistently in the same position on the sun. When I noticed it, I intentionally moved the camera as I did in August 2012 to try to determine if it was the camera or was actually the sun. The spot was still there. No matter where I stood or how I framed the sun in the view finder, the spot was still there. I captured a bird flying in a photo and the spot is also visible. In several photos it appears as if there is a second smaller, fainter sun spot, always in the same location with respect to the larger, darker sun spot. The first photos I took were at 8:28 PM CDT; the last at 8:38 PM. Photos were taken from a fourth floor apartment. Canon Powershot SX260 HS Digital Camera
