After hearing about the geomagnetic storm, I though I would take the odds in trying to photograph the aurora here in NM. After taking one photo, I was extremely excited to see that I had in fact captured a red/purple aurora on the northern horizon. I was very surprised to see the aurora appear this far south. Canon Rebel T5i 8-15mm Canon Fisheye lens ISO: 1600 f/4 35 seconds

Maybe its just city illumination?

The orange glow closer to the horizon is, but the purple color above the northern horizon is for sure the aurora.
