Details:
We were hiking on the North Shore of Lake Superior in Minnesota and noticed the sun turning yellow and then red in late afternoon. I had not heard of fires, but sure enough a web search reveal Canadian forest fires allowing us to see the red sun with our naked eyes. I had to snap a hand held photo with my Nikon D7100, Nikkor 70-200mm 2.8 with a 1.7x converter. Once downloaded I noticed the sunspots and thought how cool! No filters or tripod needed.
