Details:
It looked like a huge prominence but but it was actually the entire filament/prominence complex that was lifting off from the surface. One hour and ten minutes later, the entire structure had separated from the surface and was a long plume off the limb. Two hours later, it was a long arc blowing away from the sun.
Solarmax 60II f/6.6, Canon XTi ISO 800, surface 1/800 sec. prominences 1/250 sec. East and West are reversed.
The surface and prominence shots are 5 layer stacks. Treated with Lynkeos' Lucy-Richardson algorithm and Photoshop for stacking, montage and colour.
