Details:
For over a week now our magnificent star has been putting on a spectacular show for us to view with our solar telescopes. I think we have all been fascinated in the way this huge prominence has transferred into a large filament on the solar surface. With a show like this who needs a book to explain the event, when the real object is doing the job for us :-) My images were taken with a Lunt 80mm solar telescope and a Canon 700D camera with a 2x and 3x barlow lens attached. Images were stacked in RegiStack6 and processed in PS CS4. The colour is close to the colour as seen through the solar telescope, the monochrome image is done with that setting in the Canon camera and gives a bit more details on the surface. (The eastern limb is to the top of the image and the western limb is to the bottom, you can just make out the little sunspot group AR2331 near the western limb)
