Details:
Clear skies at the Mauna Kea Visitor Information Station on the Big Island of Hawaii gave a nice display of Lyrid meteors in the hours before dawn, including a few bright ones like this. The meteor appeared just above the Southern Cross in the sky, with the eastern flank of the Mauna Loa shield volcano visible below. The faint red glow above the clouds in the left part of the frame comes from the active Kilauea volcano. Details: Nikon D700 with Samyang 14mm f/2.8 lens, ISO 6400, 30s exposure.
