Details:
On the evening of the total solar eclipse in Spitsbergen around 21:30 a very impressive Aurora Borealis was visible. At that time the Sun was shining 9 degrees below the horizon -- it was nautical twilight then. The Adventtoppen mountain (786 meter) is illuminated by the Western-Northwestern horizon from the back, the difference of brightness of the mountain sides is obvious. The foreground is painted orange by the lights of building of Longyearbyen Camping (the Northernmost campsite of the World) and the nearby Longyearbyen Airport. Photo details: Canon EOS 5D Mark II + Samyang EF 8/3.5, 10 sec, ISO 320
