Details:
These are images from March 24 with the waxing crescent Moon amid the Hyades star cluster. The range in brightness between the sunlit crescent and the starry sky is huge and impossible to record in one exposure. Both images are high dynamic range HDR shots composed of a stack of 3 to 5 exposures, from short exposures for the Moon to long exposures for the stars. The first image is with a 200mm telephoto and includes a lens flare from the off-centre Moon; the second image is a close up with a 92mm aperture refractor with an effective focal length of 450mm.
