While imaging the auroral display in the northern sky, I also had a camera recording Orion setting in the west, and noticed a faint red auroral band cutting through the constellation. This red band was quite displaced from the brighter display occurring in the north.

Also seen above the auroral band are the Rosette Nebula and the large, faint Lambda Orionis Ring (Sharpless 264).

This is a single 15-second exposure at ISO6400, using a Canon 60Da and Bower 16mm lens at F2.0. The image was taken at 03:33 UT on March 18, 2015.
