Details:
Here's a composite image taken on the evenings of March 1-5, 2015, which shows the apparent movement of Venus, Mars and Uranus against the background stars. Mars is the dimmer, lower dotted track, Venus the bright obvious one and Uranus, the short dotted path close to the 2nd Venus down from the top. The close encounter between Uranus and Venus on March 4th, when both planets were just 5 arcminutes apart, is also shown. All images were taken with a Canon 6D DSLR and 50-500mm telephoto lens. The lens was deliberately stopped down to f/8 to create the dramatic starburst effect on Venus caused by its light being diffracted by the aperture blades inside the lens.
