Details:
Vertical, thin pillars of light in the Eastern sky approx. 2 hours before sunrise. They appear to be of varying heights and distances, and were a translucent gray color. They did not appear to be related to the lights of any of the buildings. Photo taken with the standard setting of a Samsung Galaxy S5 camera, photo brightness enhanced.

I had those here in Minnesota one night and it scared my friend and I so much. At first we though northern lights were coming in but as we drove closer to one, we found out what it was. They are just light from buildings. I dont know it they are hitting ice particles or what but that night there was also a halo around the moon so its probably ice particles. They are so weird looking. We drove towards an orange one and ended up at a church. Another was by a Wal-Mart.
