Details:
I was taking pics of the aurora to the north when I noticed what appeared to be a band of light to my east heading in a northerly direction. It seemed to be more of an apparition than something of substance. But at the time I thought it was a disintegrating fireball. A moving band of light about half as long as it appears in the photo. I was seeing fragments scattered through it, or the stars behind it. It passed rapidly but I had time to think about it and the camera time enough to start another exposure. I believe it came into view right near the end of the first exposure and was still in view, melting away, during the second exposure. I've never seen anything quite like it. To the eye the band appeared wider and more transparent. I heard nothing.
