Details:
Despite readings of low activity, the aurora kicked up again last night, Feb 20 in the early evening, here in Churchill, Manitoba. Temperatures were -32° C with a high wind and wind chill factor of -50° C leading to extreme cold warnings here. Nevertheless, our intrepid tour group members ventured outside in the lee of the Northern Studies Centre building to enjoy the display and take photos of themselves with the Northern Lights as a backdrop. These are all 8 to 15 second exposures at ISO 3200 with the Canon 6D and 24mm lens at f/2.8, taken in quick jaunts outside before retreating back to the interior warmth of the Centre. Tonight the forecast is for even colder temperatures!
