Details:
This is a good time to get out in the evenings and see a pair of open star clusters a bit to the left of Sirius. These are M 46 and M 47 in Puppis. They are easily observed with the naked eye under mag +6 skies, while a small refractor shows the bright cluster M 47 and close to it a somehow ghostly patch of light, easily resolved with indirect view. The above image also shows the planetary nebula NGC 2438 in M 46, and some other open clusters in the same field as the two Messier objects.
TS 65mm F/6.5 APO Refractor, Canon 550D, ISO3200, 14x2min.
