WOW! A huge Solar Filament on the Sun today!!!!..The filament covers nearly 1/4 of the diameter of the Sun. You could fit about 27 Earth Diameters along the length of it, it spans approximately (347,840km) or 217,400 miles long. The Sunspot group 2280 is near the bottom edge of it.
I captured this image at lunch time today from my backyard Observatory in Dayton, Ohio USA. There were some very nice Solar prominences on the western limb as well..but seeing was not the best...but took a shot anyway since we have had nothing but clouds & snow for a while. Lunt 60mm/50F Hydrogen Alpha Solar Scope, 2x barlow, Qhy5LII CCD camera, 740 frames stacked in Registax6
Best Regards,
