Details:
Tonight, the tail of comet Lovejoy got a bit brighter. It is easily seen in the images above that almost half of the main tail is much brighter compared to the days before. It stretches quite a long distance beneath the Pleiades, and in a few days, when the comet will get even closer to M45, the tail just might reach all the way to this open cluster, in dark sky conditions. That is a good photographic opportunity. Equipment: TS 65Q APO Refractor (D=60mm, F/6.5) with Canon 550D at ISO 800 and 1600, 15x250sec for comet image, and Sigma 50mm Macro lens at F/4 with Canon 550D at ISO800, 9x240sec for wide field image.

Nice nebulosity in the Pleiades, and a great amount of detail in the comets coma and tail show up extremely good.

A most impressive image! I was surprised to see it was acquired with a 60mm objective and delighted with the Pleiades nebulosity. I wish you clear skies and excellent seeing for Jan 18-20.
