Details:
While I was up in St. Germain at the new year, news of the comet was whirling around spaceweather and numerous other websites. I couldn't help but try to photograph it.
I walked out about 2/3 of the way to the middle of the lake and aimed my camera southeast. Orion was just rising through the trees, along with faint Comet Lovejoy in Lepus. The nearly-full moon washed out so many stars and made the comet a bunch more faint, but I was still able to manage capturing it. Hopefully, I will be able to see the comet in the near future.
Black Bear Lodge provided nice lakeside views of the stars. The second picture is of Cassiopeia and the milky way without the moonlight to make the sky a blue and starless hue.
