Details:
Sunday night I dodged some clouds to shoot Comet Lovejoy with both a telephoto lens and a closeup with a telescope. The blue ion tail seemed a little fainter and thinner than on previous nights but exposures with the 135mm telephoto lens recorded it stretching back at least 5 to 6 degrees, perhaps farther. The close-up shot through the telescope records fine structure and filaments, no doubt changing by the hour and night. Next project is to shoot a time-lapse! The comet was easy to see naked eye and the tail was just visible with 36mm binoculars.
