Details:
Lake effect clouds from Lakes Erie and Ontario took a break today providing a rare clear winter night in Upstate New York. The temperature was 3F (-16C) which means I was working in a hurry to set up an 80mm scope with a DSLR piggyback fitted with a 100mm lens. A quick polar alignment plus 3200 ISO to shorten the exposure, resulted in some star drift and a grainy image. But despite the conditions, it was fun to finally get out to see Comet Lovejoy and take a few pictures. Image is an average of 2 X 2minutes at ISO 3200, Canon 60Da, Sigma 70-300mm lens set to 100mm. Contrast and color adjusted in Paint Shop Pro.
