Details:
First clear night of the new year with the Moon out of the scene in this part of the world. Under a dark sky the comet's head is an easy naked eye object now, with the tail just above the visual threshold as well. Harsh conditions tonight though, with a temperature of -26C and gusty breezes giving a wind chill of -35C. Interesting structural changes seem to be occurring in the tail near the coma. Disconnection event occurs on the following day (January 08). This image was taken with a Canon 60Da and 200mm lens at F4 on an Ioptron SkyTracker platform. It is a stack of six 30-second images at ISO6400.
