Details:
I headed to Boronia Reserve, south of Hobart, Tasmania, last night to get some shots of the Milky Way since the sky was really clear. I went out early as I knew the moon was rising at 9:50pm, and was hoping to get at least some complete darkness between sunset and moonrise. When I saw the moon rising due East, I looked South, there was still a fair bit of light from the sun going down. I thought the whole trip was a waste, until I realised there was an aurora going on. So, despite the gorgeous moonrise which was fiery red, I switched my focus from 'Milky Way' to 'Aurora australis'. Not a bad night after all.
