After trying to locate Comet Lovejoy for a few weeks with no success, reports of the comet brightening, and the moon becoming less of a hindrance, gave me reason to try again. Bitter temperatures, and high winds provided a nice clear sky, although some cumulus clouds were present. I photographed the light polluted Brooklyn sky through my living room window, less than optimum conditions. Any success at all under these conditions would be a small miracle! Refering to the finder charts on Spaceweather, I searched the sky with 15X70 binoculars, with no success once more. However, upon checking the photos, I believe I found the comet. Several frames were reviewed, and a fuzzy star appeared. At last Comet Lovejoy! Details: Canon EOS Rebel T1i digital camera, Canon EF-S 18-55 IS lense set at 18mm,ISO 800,5s exposure, f=5.6, photo taken at 12:19 AM.
