Details:
Comet Lovejoy was an easy binocular target this night, our first clear night in 11 days. Presence of the Moon prevented naked eye sighting. This image was taken at 01:59 EST, about 11 minutes after the Moon had set. Comet elevation at that time was only +9.3 degrees. This is a single 60-second exposure at ISO 6400 with a Canon 60Da and 200mm telephoto lens at F4.0. An Ioptron SkyTracker platform was used for tracking. Conditions were a bit harsh at -14C with wind gusts to 25 kmph. About 1.2 degrees of the tail is visible in the image, though only a hint was visible with 15x70 binoculars.
