Details:
On December 5, the air was very crisp on the Canary Islands. A very bright sunset was followed by an intense green flash. Immediately after sunset Venus became visible to the unaided eye at an altitude of seven degrees. The image above was captured at 18:38 UT from the island La Gomera at the end of civil twilight. It shows Venus 2.5 degrees above the horizon with the neighboring island El Hierro underneath.
