This night was an absolutely magical experience. The moon lit up the landscape covered with snow. The river is not yet icy. Northern lights appeared from its most spectacular this evening, fast and colorful northern lights that I have ever seen. The experience can not be described, it must be experienced. I Could not catch this right in this photo because I stopped to photograph. I had to be left to just watch and enjoy :) This was a moment i will never forget. Beautiful photo Kristin! And I agree with you, as we here in Oregon in the Northwest US hardly ever get to see Auroras like you do in Norway, but I have seen it at rare times here, and it was moving so fast, I was the only one out in my neighborhood alone that night, the days of film cameras only, could not have captured it on film. I just told people the next day at work, you cannot imagine what it is without seeing it. No still photograph will show this. But however, your photo is very beautiful. I will drive tonight to see under dark skies over a lake not far from my home near Mount Hood Oregon. *If not for clouds that night Oct 16th 2014, note the intense green light near the horizon > http://spaceweathergallery.com/indiv_upload.php?upload_id=103198
