Details:
Observed the solar eclipse through cloudy skies & rain storms in the Puget Sound area. Solar filter allowed me to see through the thinner clouds to capture the eclipse before and after peak. The first photo was taken at partial zoom, and the surrounding rain-heavy clouds reflected the sunlight to create a lopsided halo around the partially eclipsed Sun. The second photo was taken at full zoom, through a thinner cloud layer after a rain storm. The clouds helped diffuse the sunlight just right onto the passing Moon, creating a 3D effect that highlights the Moon crossing in front of the Sun. The AR2192 sunspot region was also visible despite the fuzzy effect of the clouds. Details: Nikon Coolpix L820, zoomed in landscape mode, with solar filter on lens.
