Solar Eclipse
Taken by Justin Cowart on October 23, 2014 @
For most of the afternoon, I thought I'd miss the eclipse. Thick clouds were the rule of the day, but about half an hour before sunset I got lucky and they started to break up a bit. While it didn't clear out completely I think the clouds that did stay behind lent some depth to the pictures. It was extra special to see the sun slowly set through a clear strip along the horizon. Once the eclipsed portion touched the horizon I was left with the impression of a pair of horns, twisting in the turbulent atmosphere. One of the most spectacular sunsets in recent memory.
