Monster Sunspot (2192)
Taken by Abe Megahed on October 22, 2014 @
Sunspot 2192 has grown to the point where it's even discernible using a solar filter and the unaided eye. Through a small telescope or telephoto, there's plenty of detail visible in the umbra and penumbral region. This photo was taken handheld with an inexpensive (< $100) 500mm mirror lens.
