Details:
The colors on this eclipsed moon were more varied and vivid than any in memory -- maybe because it stayed so close to the edge of the shadow for the duration of the eclipse. At any rate, nearly every color of the rainbow appeared on the moon just before the end of totality. This image was taken at 5:19am MDT on 10/08/2014 from Stagecoach, Colorado, USA. I used a Nikon D700 camera at the prime focus of a Celestron 8-inch SC telescope. It is a 3-second exposure at ISO 1600.
