These photos were taken at 18:43 - 18:44 UTC, thus only 55-56 minutes after a powerful flare (that peaked at 17:48 UTC) erupted from a sunspot group known as Active Region 2158, situated near the center of the solar disk. A Sony DSC-HX300 camera (with a mylar filter) was the only instrument used for the shots.
