Comet Jacques in a DAZZLING Milkyway background...
Another shooting session on the comet, and this one is with the comet in an amazingly colorful part of the Cepheus Milkyway. With an exposure time of 40 minutes, the comet moved quite a bit amongst the background stars, creating colorful star trails with colors corresponding to the stars spectral class. The head is a stunning blue/cyan color, and the thin gas tail pointing to the lower left is sky blue. Also note that there is a broad dust fan pointing toward the ten oclock position which shows up as an aysmetrical brightening. The net effect is a Y shaped pair of tails. That is why I put the comets head on the right, so the two tails would fit in the field, pointing to the left.
