Details:
It was active from 11pm until about 4am while I was there, but picked up after 2am. I've seen this before and don't know what it is. A dark band, near black, that you may or may not be able to see a few stars through, will form at or near the bottom and slowly grow, almost like clouds moving in and then a bright band of greenish white will form above it, and then suddenly it will intensify with pillars. Pretty active for a K4. From Mud Lake, near Republic, Washington in Ferry County the evening of Aug 26 - 27th Canon SX50, various exposures and ISO's
