Details:
After a day and a night of low clouds and rain, the skies finally cleared before dawn, and I was ready to see and photograph the triple conjuction as it rose above the Manzano Mountains, just south and east of Albuquerque, New Mexico. In the first image, you’ll notice a transcontinental jet next to Jupiter (and if you look really closely, you can just make out 2-3 of Jupiter’s Galilean moons). In the second image, again looking closely, you can actually see all 4 of the Galilean moons. The third image is simply a detail crop from the second, at 100%, of Jupiter and the moons. An hour after these were shot, the skies clouded over again. Nikon D3X, 70-200mm f/2.8, ISO 200.
