How very exciting the Sun was today…there where two sets of very active prominences on the limbs, one set was on the Eastern limb (right in the photo) and the other set was on the western limb. I was observing and photographing for nearly two hours and both areas changed their shape many times…they were extremely interesting to watch. My images were taken with a Lunt 80mm solar telescope and Canon 7D camera with a 2x Barlow lens attached. I used the monochrome setting in the camera to capture the black and white image as it showed the delicate gaseous and tenuous nature of the western prominence. The Ha image is a composite of two images one for the surface and one that is overexposed for the prominences, then the image was combined in PS. East and West are reversed in the image and upside down too…because I live in the land down under :-)
