Just when a nice sunspot group is turning away from us AR 2087 announced itself by blasting three X-class flares in just a couple of days. With a guaranteed high activity for today I was ready with my Coronado PST to catch a glimpse of any flare erupting from these double barrels situated on the opposite limbs. I was hoping to finally capture my first flare but to my surprise I managed to nab not just one but two flares in a span of few minutes! The first flare erupted near AR 2085 at 3 pm IST (UT+5.5). It lasted for approx half an hour. 20 minutes after the first one subsided another flare erupted from AR 2087 at around 3:50 pm. I could see it as a bright patch for well over 40 minutes! I confirmed both the flares on SDO’s website. What a great day for solar observing! Now I can finally lay down my gear and store it since monsoon will soon shut me down ending my current astro season. Equipment:- Coronado PST, EQ3, Canon 600D, 2x barlow Stacked 30% best frames from approx.. 2100 in AS!2 for both the images. Final editing in gimp. Place – Pune, India
