Summer Heat Can't Defeat Icy Treat! With the onset of Summer in the Northern Hemisphere, nobody but Mother Nature is thinking of ice. Yet even with temps of 28c (82f) at the surface, frost formed high in the atmosphere and the resulting ice crystals formed a beautiful 20 degree halo around the Sun. A short-live jet contrail crossed the scene, but broke up quickly
