Details:
During the next weeks Jupiter, Pollux and Castor make a nice grouping in the evening sky. The photo shows the three celestial objects on May 24 shining brightly at the opening event of the Grossmugl Star Walk installation in Austria. The Sternenweg Großmugl is the worldwide first permanent star walk installation designed for observations with the unaided eye. On a 90 minutes' walk, visitors get an easy introduction to observing the night sky, live and with their own unaided eyes. Nine stations with descriptive displays guide the visitors through the starry sky and emphasize the importance of dark sky preservation. The 1.5 km long tour is free of charge, open all year round day and night and available without booking or reservation. Grossmugl is a small town only half an hours' drive from Austria's capital Vienna. The Grossmugl Star Walk was designed by project nightflight and built in close collaboration with the municipality of Grossmugl. For more details about the Grossmugl Star Walk installation and how to get there an illustrated PDF (1.6MB) is available for free download: http://www.project-nightflight.net/the_grossmugl_star_walk.pdf
