Details:
I notice a band across the sky around 1:45 CST that passed through the location where the meteors show show up. I believe it's the debris field as a whole.

Gary, I tryed to align your photo on SkySafari last night and wanted to come back and ask you if you thought it could have been a ground light affect??? (Overlay posted mid-day 25th May, here on spaceweather http://spaceweathergallery.com/indiv_upload.php?upload_id=97728&PHPSESSID=ce885t0f4vrh67nmp8blq76o93 ) . However, this morning Im so happy that so many other people have come out as witnesses! More people must have seen this so please keep the new photos and observations coming! Very exciting. Thanks.

Thanks Brian, I commented on your posting and added another photo as commented which shows the orbiter and the band of light. It is exciting to hear other accounts.

This is a fuel dump following the launch of the Japanese Advanced Land Observation (ALOS-2)(aka Daichi-2) Satellite. The launch took place at 3:05UT (8:05pm PDST for those on the west coast). Launched from the Tanegashima Space Center on the H-11A booster. Quite spectacular to see - looked like a flashlight beam.
