Details:
The weather in California has been hot for the last tree days. The hot, clear weather is a good time to hunt for mirages. At Monterey Bay I observed Fata Morgana mirage of the sea surface with a mirage of a motor boat and the wave it created. Look closely at the first image. There are two normally looking boats in the foreground, but the background looks quite differently. You could see that the third boat and the wave it created gets refracted. Then we drove a few more miles around the Bay and observed a rather bizarre landscape, which was also created by Fata Morgana mirage of a distant land.
